I have put together a set of free, genealogy lessons by email. They will not cost a dime and you can unsubscribe at any time. My goal is to bring new people into the hobby and get them off to the right start!
Each lesson contains my thoughts on genealogy. I review research methods and best practice plus introduce you to products and service offered in the genealogy industry, giving pros and cons of each. My focus is to encourage organized record keeping and source citation while keeping genealogy fun. From beginner to expert, there is something here for everyone!

Is this site and its lessons really free?
Yes, this site and the lessons are totally free. It will not cost you a dime and I have nothing to sell.
Can I sign up at any time and still get all of the lessons?
You can sign up at any time as the lessons are set to go out every few days for roughly two months. There is no time-frame to sign up, the lessons start anew with each subscriber. It is a rolling system so you can start now or in a month from now and get the same set of lessons.
What if I disagree with something that you write?
These lessons are a work in progress so you can give me feedback on things to change, remove or improve. I even have people write in with spelling and grammar corrections! That is fine too.
Why are you giving these lessons away for free?
I want to give people the confidence to get started with genealogy, show them some of the pitfalls and nudge them in the right direction.
What if I want to stop receiving lessons?
You can unsubscribe at any time. Every email has a link that you can click to unsubscribe.
Will you sell and/or share my email address with other companies?
No. We do not open our subscriber list to other companies or individuals.
Will you send me "junk" email?
I would not send you anything that I personally thought was junk. I hate SPAM just as much as you do!
So what is in it for you?
I get to interact with new, interesting people every day. I also get the personal satisfaction that comes along with helping people. It is nice to think that I am making a difference in the genealogical community.
As for financial return, I sometimes get money from advertising on this website or commissions on the sale of some of the products and services that I recommend. If I suggest a specific book, I might offer a link where you can buy the book. I am sometimes able to get a commission on this type of sale.
Do not worry...I only recommend products that I personally stand behind. I would not recommend junk. Think of it like this...if you want to buy a book that I suggest, I could get the commission for sending your business to Amazon or some other vendor. Trust me...I am not in this for the money! A twenty-cent commission is not paying my bills at home but it does help keep the site and lessons running.
